Amunhotep III (Part 3): Introducing Queen Tiye.
In 1399 BCE, Amunhotep III married his first and most important wife. The great queen Tiye (Tiy) would rule alongside her husband for the rest of his reign. In the process, she became one of the greatest names of all royal women.
In this episode we introduce Queen Tiye, explore her titles, and meet her parents and children. This sets the stage for great achievements in future years…

Hi, thanks for the show. I read that Amenhotep the 3rd made two of hos daughters great royal wives when Queen Tiye was still alive. I thought that only one woman could bare such title. Is this an exception or am I misinformed?
Hi Danilo. This is correct, I cover these events in episodes 100 and 100b
Thank you 🙂
Where is the next part after 25:30 – I’d like to hear about Amenhotep and Tiye’s children – after all they are the siblings of Akhenaten and he himself. But the podcast breaks at the that time and there is no part 1… : ( : (
Thank you, Ivonna
Great podcast, love it. Also love the pictures on the website. But it seems like the pictures get cropped no matter if I use safari or chrome on my iPhone. Anyone else having this problem?
