Khufu and the Great Pyramid

By 2590 BCE, the Fourth Dynasty is in full swing. Sneferu’s son, Khnum-Khufu now comes to power; like his father, he decides to surpass his predecessor as best as possible.

Khufu reigns approx. 24 years, and in that time Egypt’s most famous monument takes shape… We delve into the planning, organization and working environment of this enormous construction project.

Update: Since this episode’s release, new information has shed light on the people involved in building the Great Pyramid. Read the English and Arabic translations of The Diary of Merer from Pierre Tallet, Les Papyrus de la Mer Rouge, I, 2017. Online from IFAO. The episode needs a rewrite, which is currently in progress.

    Hello Dominic,
I really love your podcast. I’ve interested in Egypt since I’m a teen. I have read many books and site on Egypt, but I like how you share your passion of Egypt and knowledge. It’s greatly appreciated. I wish to let you know that, as of today February 24, 2024, the link to the IFAO doesn’t work. 😔 I’ll try to find it another way but it would be nice if you could correct it for some future users. Thank you again for everything about Egypt.
PS : I love Egypt so much that some of my cats have God’s and Pharaohs name. 😊
I wish you a great day and prosperous continuation with this podcast.
