I am loving your podcast!
This is a pretty good podcast… 🙂
Dominic … you give Djer’s successor as Wadjet … but Wikipedia and Toby Wilkinson give Djer’s successor as Djet and refer to Wadjet as a goddess of Lower Egypt … can you clarify please…
Hi Peter, Djet and Wadjet are the same person. The rendering of the name is variable in diff sources and Toby Wilkinson (Early Dynastic Egypt p.73) notes a few examples. He concludes Wadjet or Wadji may be closer to the original pronunciation. So, I went with Wadjet. Any resemblance to the female deity is (probably?) coincidental. Apologies for any confusion. Dominic
My kids and I are are really enjoying your podcast! Thank you for your high quality educational work!
Thanks for listening 😊 I’m glad y’all are enjoying it 🙂🙂🙂
Hi Dominic, Love your podcasts! Just a small remark, you show a picture of an ivory comb and address it to king Den, but should it not be Djet as it shows his Horus name?
Great podcasts. Really informative and clearly set out.
Thanks .
